Dentist placing invisible braces to patient's mouth

Gone are the days of comments such as “metal mouth” and “brace face.” Thanks to continued improvements in cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics, both teenagers and adults can experience the joy of clear braces. Invisalign is a wonderful orthodontic treatment that allows Buffalo patients to straighten their teeth and enjoy a beautiful smile even later in life. While orthodontics used to be a sign of the teenage years, more adults are realizing the importance of a beautiful smile and taking the time and money to improve the way they look. Instead of using traditional metal brackets and wires, patients can now use Invisalign to straighten their teeth with clear aligner trays instead!

Invisalign uses nearly invisible aligner trays that are made at the laboratory to match the patient’s current teeth and their smile goal. Using digital technology, impressions are taken and sent to the Invisalign labs where a series of trays are made digitally. These are set up in a special line up that will be used to move teeth slowly into desirable positions in the mouth. Patients start with the first aligner tray, wearing it for approximately two weeks, before they switch to the next tray in the series. Each time the tray is switched, teeth are continually moved into their new positions. As the patient progresses through the series of trays, their teeth will be shifting slightly into the ideal smile.

Invisalign aligner trays are removable, making it easy for patients of Dr. Kent to eat, drink, and take better care of their teeth than they could with traditional metal wire and bracket orthodontics. Patients find that the clear trays are hard for others to notice, making it the ideal situation when it comes to improving your smile while not hiding it throughout treatment. Invisalign is growing increasingly popular with adult patients who do not like the idea of having metal on their teeth. Many adults are holding down jobs that require them to talk to clients face to face, and do not want the embarrassment of traditional braces covering their beautiful smile.

Dr. Kent of the Smile Center in Buffalo is proud to provide Invisalign orthodontics for his patients, alongside traditional orthodontia. If you or someone in your family is curious to learn more about Invisalign, call the Smile Center today and schedule a consultation appointment.
