Dentist in Buffalo, NY offers restorations including porcelain dental crowns and bridges

Dental Crowns and Bridges in Buffalo NY area

Patients who visit the Smile Center can work closely with Dr. Gordon Kent to enhance the appearance, function, and health of their teeth and gums. When problems occur in the smile, patients in the area of Buffalo, NY may require dental restorations. Our practice utilizes porcelain materials to create everything from dental crowns to dental bridges.

Dental crowns

Dental crowns are restorations made of porcelain that add another layer of protection to a tooth. A tooth that has been damaged by large cavities, trauma, or root canal therapy may require a crown to protect it. A dental crown is like a “cap” that is created to bond over the prepared tooth. Teeth that require dental crowns are prepared by the dentist with the removal of enamel around the entire exposed area. Then, impressions are made and sent to a dental laboratory to create a custom restoration for the patient. A temporary is put in place until the final restoration comes into the office. Patients will come into the practice to have their new crown cemented in place. With proper care, patients will enjoy their dental crowns for many years to come!

Dental bridges

Dental bridges are used to repair the smile. A dental bridge is a restoration that includes false teeth and dental crowns fused together to create a single unit. This piece is then placed over the adjacent prepared teeth, which helps hold the bridge in place. Patients who are missing one or more teeth in a row within a dental arch are often best suited for a bridge. Alternative options include dental implants or partial dentures, which are also available in our facility for patient consideration.

Why porcelain?

Over the years, dentistry has taken a more aesthetic approach. Every restoration can now be made to blend in with the natural teeth. This is achieved with the use of materials that are not only beautiful but also strong and durable. Porcelain has been used for many years with great success and integrated into many different procedures at our office. Porcelain best mimics the appearance of tooth enamel and has the same shine and look. Porcelain restorations are made to match the color of the patient’s existing teeth, ensuring seamless integration.

What are the benefits of porcelain restorations?
